8 Nights was recorded, edited and produced by singer/songwriter/uber-guitarist David Wilcox at his recording studio in the upper floor of his home in Asheville, North Carolina.
The recordings were made over four hot June days with the windows shut and the AC turned off. David usually records 3-4 minute songs, but these recordings went on for hours, and we sweat like pigs.
We kept the room dark, and before each recording we sang the blessings and lit the candles for the night of the story we read. (You can hear the audio of David lighting the candles in the pictures below at the start of the recordings of Night 2.)
The pictures were taken by Davids son Nate Wilcox, who sat in a lot of the recordings. You can hear him laughing sometimes.
This is the the true story of Hanukkah, which I call 8 nights, or sometimes: Eight Nights.
